~What makes our Pork different: Cheshire Farms Highlight🐷🐖~

P

ork has been a part of Americans’ diets for centuries. We all love bacon but oftentimes we find that pork gets an undeserved bad rap for being bland, tough or unhealthy. With our Heritage Breed Cheshire pork that is far from the case! So, we’d like to take this chance to explain why our Cheshire Pork is different and why we are so proud to be partnered with them.

What Makes Cheshire Different:

Like most good stories, we start with a family and their farm in Seven Springs, North Carolina. Where, for over 40 years, Cheshire White hogs have been selectively bred to create the juiciest and flavorful pork. Far from your average pale, tough grocery store pork, Cheshire hogs have always had carefully monitored genetics. And the end product of this meticulous process creates a richly marbled, high minolta score and a pH balanced food that you can TASTE the difference of. Cheshire Pork is the only American pork brand on the market that has authentic Cheshire White Breeding. And we are proud to say that their pork is the official House Purveyor for the James Beard Foundation. This is a distinguished nonprofit organization whose mission is to celebrate and support the people behind America’s influential food culture, championing good food that’s created in equity and sustainability.

History of Impeccable Standards:

At Cheshire Farms, every hog is raised from birth, ensuring full traceability to one of the only two Chester White bred herds in America, one in North Carolina and one in Indiana. It’s important to note that, decades before pork was bred to be the other “white” meat, there was a reason it remained the most popular meat in Japan. It’s all in the pedigree. And so, Esther Ivey, a farmer’s daughter and the founder of Cheshire Pork brought the Chester White hog to America, where it is now distributed from New York to Miami and beyond!

Humanely-Raised:

All the hogs are raised in a safe, climate-controlled environment that allows them to roam freely to the call of their natural instincts. This gives the animals plenty of room to congregate and interact with one another as they would naturally. Living indoors ensures the hogs live in a cleaner environment to ensure the animals stay disease-free and stress-free. Not only is this less stressful for the animals but this ensures quality in the flavor. This is because stress in an animal’s life can have a negative effect on the taste of the meat, especially in pork.

For this reason, their diet is carefully monitored and to ensure a consistent and luxurious taste every time! Hogs also take on flavors of all the things in their diet, so a healthy and balanced diet with no hormones, steroids, or animal by-products is not only good for the hogs, but good for you! And because of this care, even the fat components of the meat are unlike other breeds. Cheshire Pork is actually high in oleic acid (a monounsaturated fat), lowering “bad” cholesterol and increasing “good” cholesterol!

The Proof is in the Pork.

So thanks for coming along with us. We promise that every bite will not only be mouthwatering, but will have a texture you can feel, and a difference you can taste. Most importantly, a guarantee that all the animals were treated fair and humanely in the process. In conclusion, even if pork isn’t your favorite protein, we invite you to try Cheshire Pork for yourself on your next reorder if you haven’t already!
