~Why Farm-to-Freezer Hits The Mealtime Sweetspot~

We’ve tried it all: That half thawed box food  meal kit that’s tossed at our door every week. Or spent half our weekend batch cooking for strict meal prep routines of the same dry chicken recipe over and over. Or if we’re feeling committed– stopping at multiple health food stores to get what we need, scouring the shelves for costly organic alternatives.

Let’s be honest, each of these methods falls short in one regard or another, leaving us wanting more. Whether it’s the low quality food, the rising cost of take out, or looming expiration dates that trap us into recipe commitments that we end up only using half the ingredients for.

Many of us long to break free from that pile of takeout and grocery receipts, and those long abandoned box food recipe cards. It’s a New Year and it’s time to step into the new era of mealtime.

It isn’t often we find one of those things that seems too good to be true and when we do, we often feel the urge to shout it from the rooftops so all our friends can know too. That’s how we feel about the Farm-to-Freezer lifestyle.

I

What is Farm-to-Freezer?

Farm-to-Freezer is a movement to bring back simple, wholesome mealtimes by providing nutritious farm-sourced food to families directly to their homes.

This lifestyle goes back to a more traditional method of food preservation, (That your grandma may have even used!) Think of how a squirrel –stocking up acorns for the winter. In a nutshell that’s what it’s about: all year round. It’s convenient and, most important of all: peace of mind for a whole season of grocery shopping.

The same principles apply: since you always have what you need in the comfort of your own home, there’s no need to venture out.

A Farm-to-Freezer program eliminates the need for all those grueling treks to your grocery store, providing you with a customizable menu of flash-frozen produce, sealed with all the flavor and nutrition of when it was harvested. Fresher than fresh food; your favorite meal options at your fingertips.

We all long to break free from the disenchantment and monotony we can associate with mealtimes nowadays.

So, to all the parents who face those early mornings, while the world is still dreaming, lacing up shoes and packing lunches. And to the road warriors – who often have to  leave behind a stack of dishes in the sink just to get the kids to practice on time.  We see you, because we are you, and this one’s for you.

Unfortunately, We Spend More Time At the Grocery Store Than We Think.

We, for one, were shocked to find out that most of us spend over 60 hours a year at the grocery store, (and that doesn’t include traffic!) Not to mention, the travel time to get to and from our homes. And if you have a large family this number only grows.

It begs the question: how long have we all spent just waiting this year? Waiting in line at the grocery store, sitting our cars in traffic. Or at a restaurant or drive thru. Then once home, stressing about the details of the meal we are about to cook or the money we spent getting a quick bite to eat after running our daily errands.

What could we all do with more time? Work on our fitness? Take the kids to more baseball games? Maybe learn a new skill or hobby? Unfortunately, tedious trips to the grocery store have become an inevitability, an inconvenience plopped onto the layer cake of our already stacked day-to-day.

And as we go through our mental checklists: get the kids to school, feed the dog, take out the trash, fold that pile of laundry on our bed and spend time together. The last thing we want to add is another chore.

Don’t feel too bad, you’re not alone in feeling this way, many of us do. Not only are those trips to the store inconvenient but they don’t have your best interests in mind, often costing you more than you bargained for and spending even more time away from home. Plus, how many of us have walked into the store saying we came in for one thing and come out with way more?

Farm-to-Freezer fills the gaps yet again. Not only are they delivered directly to you but packed in your freezer for you! Everyone dreads the “What’s for dinner?” question but especially through kids and #pickyeaters understand there’s not always easy solutions.

When a menu has been curated by you, for your family you’ll never have to run into this dilemma again! Maybe you and your partner wanna treat yourself with tender filet minion but the kids want chicken…again. With a stocked Farm-to-Freezer pantry each portion is individually vacuumed sealed, to go pan-to plate in minutes! This also makes the defrost a breeze (No more relying on someone else to take it out the night before!) So you can easy prepare a dinner for everyone in a pinch. And it tastes good too!

The Food Waste Elephant.

Let’s address it. Food waste is a thing. According to recent studies, it’s estimated that approximately 25% to 40% of the food brought into American households goes to the trash. And everyone does it, despite the fact that we all are doing our best. But, sometimes in our hectic lives mealtimes are what gets pushed to the bottom of our neverending to-to list.

We understand, we’re all human after all.

On the other hand, a preservation based mindset with a Farm-to-Freezer Lifestyle allows you to keep your food fresh and nutritious for up to 2 years or longer. So even if you don’t cook it right away it stays safe, tucked away in your freezer as fresh as the day it was harvested.  It’s almost like magic!

As humans we change our mind a lot and that’s okay! Maybe you thought you wanted pork chops on Wednesday, but the day came and you’re more in the mood for chicken. It’s easy to swap the pork out for chicken without the worry that your pork chops will spoil if you don’t use it. No more mealtime compromises. Farm-to-Freezer brings back the simplicity and wholesomeness to mealtime that feels like you’re cheating. There has to be a catch though, right? Nope. It’s just clean and simple food, that’s ready to eat whenever you are!

And from our experience, box food meal kits only solve half the problem of the mealtime grind. The limited choices and the expiration dates are only another factor to worry about. And let’s be honest, most of the time we end up subbing these, unsatisfying options for the drive thru instead. This further drains our pockets and also wastes the “healthy” food we spent money on in the first place.

It’s not like we want to do it, or mean to. Life happens and we’re all human after all! But peace of mind is important, especially in our current face-paced world, where we never feel as though we’ve caught up with everything  we’re “supposed” to do.

The Unexpected Guilt of Healthy Eating.

Something we hear a lot from our families, especially our moms, is the guilt that sometimes comes with mealtimes. Often we can’t always feed our families the best foods available to us, whether it’s time, money or ease of access that prevents that. Each of us and our families have own unique challenges. And we all do try to “eat better” and try things like traditional meal prepping. However, we often we often resent the tedious processes afterword or quickly become bored of fad diets or food trends. We may put on a brave face to “set an example for the kids” but we also get sick of the same meals over and over again.

We get it, because we’ve been there too.

Making a change to what we know is hard quite frankly, and sometimes it feels impossible to break the cycle. Our lives are often so full of joyous chaos that sometimes we end up sacrificing something as we strive to better our lives.

We want to “have it all.” Quick meals that are good for us and won’t break the bank. It sounds simple but, it seems like an impossible reality.

What Can We Do?

That’s why we are so passionate about Farm-to-Freezer.
